Pictures drawn by middle school students with flow predictions, crown (top) and star (bottom).The ME student teams took the middle and high school student designs back to the lab anddesigned 3D molds with the SolidWorks program, as shown in Figure 5 for the “crown” shape. Aphysical mold of the model was made with the 3D printer followed by actual flow inserts for theePIV from the silicon elastomer, Sylgard 184 (both the mold and the flow insert are shown inFigure 6 for the star, pumpkin and crown shapes).
