Christiansen obtained a BS degree in Mathematics from Utah State University in 1957 and MS and PhD degrees in Engineering Mechanics from Stanford University in 1958 and 1962. He began his career at the Western Development Laboratories, Palo Alto CA in 1960 and later joined the faculty of the Civil and Environmental Engineering department at Brigham Young University in 1965. He served as chair of this department from 1980-1986. Professor Christiansen’s primary research has been in the field of computer graphics. He founded and served as Director of the Engineering
