-assessment is only an 8. This could be due to gender, as one study found female students tended to ratethemselves lower than their male counterparts (Lind, 2002), however, this is not conclusive sinceGopinath (1999) found gender was not a factor in self-assessment. It could also be due to the tendency ofsuccessful students to rate themselves lower than their peers and unsuccessful students to rate themselveshigher (Mishra, Ostrovska, & Hacaloglu 2015; Falchikov & Boud, 1989; and Gopinath, 1999). Since theinstructor did not keep any personally identifiable information we are unable to explore this further here, but plan to do so in future work.V. DiscussionThe research clearly shows that PA provides value that is distinct from the value of SA

that they havelearned, combined with all that their teammates have learned, to quickly and effectively developa quality solution to a real-world problem.Similarly, an instructor may teach five courses a year over many years, each with dozens ofstudents. Course content changes from year to year, and a given course’s content must becontinually aligned with the content of other courses and content from other instructors. As thecurriculum evolves and teaching improves, faculty members need an integrated view of learningcontent and student performance assessment over the entire curriculum and numerous years.Current approaches to managing course information do not provide the integrated, organized, evolving view of knowledge that students and

teachers: The event provides an opportunity for faculty Faculty Sponsor sponsor to interact with high school teachers. Such interaction leads to exploration of possible collaborations. In the past the faculty sponsor has submitted a proposal to the National Science Foundation with participating high schools as implementation partners. Personal gratification: Meeting students who may consider the computing field as their career choice and discussing software engineering practices with them and their teachers provides a personal gratification. human who plays an active and pri-mary role in making the final decision. Such a process is called assisted requirements tracing(ART).8 Recent studies on students’ ART performances5, 8 clearly showed the challenges inthat students invariably made errors of omission (threw out correct links) and errors of com-mission (added incorrect links). Dekhtyar et al.8 conducted a statistical analysis of the fac-tors affecting ART performance, though all the participants were students enrolled in Soft-ware Engineering courses. Our work, reported, in this paper extends the body of knowledge inART by making a head-to-head comparison between students and software professionals.Preparing graduates for a smooth and successful transition toward their roles in
