noveltechnical domain, nuclear engineering developed within a new organizational context [8].Previously, physicists practiced their research within university science departments, but with thedevelopment of wartime research efforts, such as the Manhattan Project, top physicists andengineers found themselves employed by government and military-funded research initiatives.Post-WWII, these government research efforts continued via the establishment of nationallaboratories.
