Microsoft Working Connections program was the strongpersonal and professional relationships that developed between the faculty mentees and theirmentors and the professional development experienced by the program participants. thirtystudents that shared the same two classes. This cohort was split into ten teams for bothclassroom and afternoon activities. Study groups of two teams each were formed, each with adesignated Study Leader trained in group learning methods (similar to Supplemental Instruction).The training emphasized the value of collaborative learning and peer support, and explained thepurpose and function of Learning Communities. The SS1 sessions provided a supportiveenvironment for students to work together on homework and group projects while building asense of community and shared success.
