Mikami, Koji et al. have designed a game production curriculum at theTokyo University of Technology in collaboration with Japan’s iconic game industry [11],where new courses, combined lectures, and exercises across the whole value chain wereadded in game development - planning, programming, CG, graphics, and sound. The industrywas involved in both course curricula (technical staff in laboratories, special lectures) andresearch. Class evaluation was conducted through a questionnaire, where game-relatedclasses were highly rated by more than 400 students. Thecoursework was taught by a university faculty member and doctoral student, and assisted bystudent teaching assistants. FYSE participants were given homework assignments, lab work,quizzes, exams, and an engineering-related group project with a final presentation. 6have grown the program from 36 to 62 participants, and we’ve growncollege matriculants from four participants to 14. We’ve doubled thescholarship for students, so that students now receive a total of $5,000over their first two years in our college.The core of the EngiNearMe curriculum features student groupscollaborating to build Arduino light sculptures.
