Cultural Wealth framework, to analyze and characterize the ties thatmarginalized students made between their family and childhood community and their HEaspirations. To better understand these pathways and how familial support systems and culturalfunds of knowledge influenced student career paths, we conducted interviews of 47 HE students,across seven programs, of whom 28 were from dominant communities and 19 were frommarginalized communities. We found testimony that students' experience with a well-supportedand valued stepping stone - field-based infrastructure projects - is mediated by theirsociopolitical status and their membership in historically marginalized groups. to serve as teaching assistants. Teaching assistants at Dartmouth are typicallyundergraduate students themselves who have done well in the courses for which they serve asteaching assistants. Responsibilities of the teaching assistants include running problem sessions(optional evening help sessions), grading problem sets, and helping to set up and rundemonstrations and laboratories. Teaching assistants are not responsible for grading quizzes,exams or projects. Current responsibilities include: serving as day-to-day project manager of our AHRQ patient safety center, leading a portfolio of roughly 10 projects at any time, and assisting with senior team projects
