The exact reasons for these shortcomings aresecondary to the issue of making changes to address the issue, although it in part stems from theuse of individual rather than team capstone design projects. This approach to capstone design isused throughout the ET Department as a last chance to guarantee that every student is capable ofcompleting a large, open-ended project. From the standpoint of certain skills, such as writtencommunication, creative problem solving ability, and project management this approach is veryeffective, however it addresses these other issues at the expense of teamwork.
