. The Post 9/11 GI Bill has provided $73million in higher education benefits to student veterans and other military-connected students[1]. Slightly more than 1 million military personnel had taken advantage of these educationalbenefits in 2016, a 151% increase since 2000 [2]. In 2018, 708,069 beneficiaries received Post9/11 GI Bill benefits, equivalent to more than $10.8 million [3]. Research suggests theseinvestments have resulted in positive outcomes. For example, Cate and colleagues [4] found thatnearly 54 percent of student veterans who initiated their college studies in Fall 2009 graduatedwithin six years, a slightly higher rate than for students overall.Much of the research on military-connected students focuses on former members of the

In short, SCCT states that an individual’s efforts towards reaching a goal are functions oftheir interest, confidence and outcome expectation. Of the 11 institutions, the majority of the students, 72%, were male and 28% were female.Regarding race/ethnicity, 85% of the respondents self-reported the race/ethnicity as Black, 4% asHispanic, and 9% as multi-racial; 7% as Asian and 9% as White. Of the students involved, 16%indicated that English was not their primary language. The majority of the students were 2nd year(27%) or 3rd year (42%) higher education students; 67% of the enrollees were majoring in electricalengineering; 23% self-reported as computer science or mechanical engineering majors. Students: Comparing and Contrasting Perceptions of the Engineering Skill SetIntroductionThe long-standing underrepresentation of females in engineering, both in Canada and the UnitedStates [1-3], is worrying because systemic issues may be the cause of an untapped talent pool.Furthermore, this professional underrepresentation is likely to continue since females are alsounderrepresented in engineering education programs [4, 5]. . Ronald W. Welch, The Citadel Ron Welch (P.E.) received his B.S. degree in Engineering Mechanics from the United States Military Academy in 1982. He received his M.S. and Ph.D. degrees in Civil Engineering from the University of Illinois, Champaign-Urbana in 1990 and 1999, respectively. He became the Dean of Engineering at The Citadel on 1 July 2011. Prior to his current position, he was the Department Head of Civil Engineering at The University of Texas at Tyler from Jan 2007 to June 2011 as well as served in the Corps of Engineers for over 24 years including eleven years on the faculty at the United States Military Academy.Dr. William J. , where historically underrepresentedstudents (URM, def: non-white, non-Asian) compose approximately 12-16% of the student body(1). Lack of diversity limits the talent base and creative capital of the entire engineeringprofession (2). For this reason, institutions have been investing in Minority EngineeringPrograms (MEPs) within their undergraduate engineering colleges (3,4). MEPs serve as umbrellaorganizations that offer financial, academic, and social support, with overarching objectives ofimproving representation and retention of URM undergraduate students in engineering programs(3-7). Although programmatic elements and administrative infrastructure may vary byinstitution, there is no question that MEPs in general are effective in URM
