ninety percent of learners stronglyagree or agree that the Learning Management System (LMS) is great for their engagement withother learners and the instructor. Additionally, the results expressed student satisfaction withonline admission, registration, and advising. The surveys identified that the impact of the onlineengineering graduate program in the case study on the learner included a job promotion andsalary increase for most of the survey participants. Keywords: Online Education, Software Engineering Education, Case Study Proceedings of the 2023 ASEE North Central Section Conference 1 Copyright © 2023, American Society for Engineering EducationINTRODUCTIONTechnology can significantly

One of America’s favorite things to do during the hot summer days is have big campfiresand cookouts. To cool down, people need ice cold beverages kept in a cooler out where they arehanging out. For the 4th of July, the biggest day of cookouts for America, $1.6 billion is spent onbeer and wine alone [1]. Camping also necessitates the

Results from theAmerican College Health Association (ACHA) National College Health Assessment indicatethat an overwhelming majority of responders experience “moderate” to “serious” psychologicaldistress and describe their levels of stress as “moderate” to “high” 1-2. withconnected members. The previous research on Frames and Machines is limited in the literature.Prins [1] believed that students need to understand different parts in an assembled object, understand where the parts are connected, and how the object moves [1]. He created labactivities using different sizes of bolt cutters and asked students to perform a force analysis. Thisenabled students to predict and see how different parts of the model work together. Prins foundthat this is the best method for students to enhance their understanding of a typical machineproblem. The researcher reported that following the activities, more than 80% of students wereconfident in applying their Frames and Machines analysis abilities to real objects [1].Ramming and

. Students usually report a highdegree of student satisfaction with online courses. Literature reports that online course deliveryallows more time flexibility, which permits students to take the courses online that they may nototherwise be able to take. [1], [2], [3]Earlier online delivery was often a straight adaptation of existing courses. Many providedidentical materials and assessments as face to face instruction. Online students were supportedwith limited distance learning support, such as discussion boards and frequent email. [2], [4], [5]Students tend to produce statistically better results in online and blended courses across all agesand disciplines. As online delivery became more common, courses were more intentionallydeveloped or revised

Physical prototypes of thermoelectric cooled and heated pads are utilizedto better calibrate the FLIR/LiDAR sensor system. Python was used to develop the calibrationalgorithms. A depth measurement with the LiDAR/thermal camera was conducted to determinethe distance of a pedestrian. This study also overviews the challenges and design constraintsencountered.1. many students lack the necessary data science knowledge. To address this issue, there is a need to design big data systems curricula or courses to equipstudents with the skills and knowledge needed to work with large-scale data sets and solve real-world problems. This Work in Progress (WIP) aims to share the experience of designing a big dataanalytics course for undergraduate students, including design principles, course content, teachingmethods, challenges, and successes. It contributes to the field of big data analytics by designing acourse for undergraduate students and sharing insights into best practices for teaching big dataanalytics, serving as a resource for other instructors and institutions.1. developed to continuouslyrefine the accuracy of the focus monitoring system for individual users as more data is collected.1. IntroductionStudies have shown that selective attention can be negatively affected by scrolling on social media(even after 12 minutes of use), making it more difficult for the brain to focus on a task for extendedperiods of time [1]. This distraction can interfere with many aspects of life, such as learning in aclassroom setting or driving for long periods, which may put an individual at higher risk of makingerrors in these daily tasks. A smart warning system that alerts a user when they lose focus on atask may help the user regain concentration and prevent or reduce the occurrence of errors.EEG is a technology that utilizes

The training made clear that the program was intended to be protégé-driven, withmentors providing guidance and input but students having the responsibility for steering theconversation and deciding on appropriate discussion topics. Protégés and mentors were expectedto communicate at least twice per month with at least one of the meetings being in-person (if thementor was local) or via Zoom, Webex, Skype, etc. if in-person meetings were notgeographically feasible. Based on the extent of skin and bone that are involved, syndactylyis classified into simple and complex types; based on how far the fusing of digits or webbingspans down the fingers, syndactyly is classified into incomplete and complete types.1 For anytype of syndactyly, reconstructive surgery would be needed to separate the digital skin, reconstruct the web space between fingers, and cover the separated digits with soft tissues.2 Forthe second step, web

It is important for the teacher to be the mediator of the STEM pedagogical proposal. Often Riemannsums are not taught, or are underemphasized.2,6 The area-under-the-curve conception is typicallyforegrounded in approaches to the definite integral, though often with little or no motivation. Asdiscussed above, this conception is useful as an interpretation of a definite integral understoodquantitatively in a problem’s context; it is less useful as a basis for building that quantitativeunderstanding. Alongside on-the-job training, apprentices spend part of their working hours completing classroom-basedlearning with a college, university, or training provider which leads to a nationally recognizedqualification or certification [1]. Apprenticeships, which incorporate real-world situations intothe learning process, are seeing a resurgence within the context of higher education [1-2].The goal of the apprenticeship is to provide practical training to students in such a way that theycan find full-time employment after college. For the last two years, the New York Jobs CEOCouncil has offered an apprenticeship program that has provided

education programming to innovate their fields.IntroductionIn the United States, national calls have emerged for expanding the science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) workforce [1]. Government officials suggest that anincrease in the number of STEM professionals and innovations is important for meeting risingsocial, economic, and environmental concerns across the country [2], [3]. One approach forSTEM workforce development is the launch of STEM entrepreneurship education programming.STEM entrepreneurial education programs (EEPs) promote and support university faculty, students and administrators in their transformation of STEM research into marketable products[4]–[8]. Since their emergence in the late 20th century, STEM EEPs have

Research has shown that the perception ofengineering as a “technical-only” field can alienate students who hold beliefs in communal goals, which rely on social knowledge and skills, even if they achieve excellent academic performancein their engineering coursework [3], [4]. Such research findings point to the need for developinggreater understanding of the types of skills and practices that could potentially draw students toparticular disciplines within engineering. Thus, our research focused on understanding aspects of engineering practice that first yearmechanical engineering students described as important to their

become increasingly significant. Engineering projects are oftencomplex, expensive, and high-stakes, requiring a solid grasp of skills not typically covered in anengineer’s bachelor’s or associate’s education [1]. Project management provides the frameworkand tools necessary to turn ambitious visions into tangible reality. It empowers organizations toadapt, respond, and thrive amidst challenges and opportunities [2]. Project managementeducation provides engineers with the ability to optimize resource allocation, meet customerexpectations, adapt to market changes, mitigate risks, and foster innovation [2, 3]. These skillsare essential for engineers to design and execute projects in an environment where requirementsare constantly changing [2].While

To what extent do these experiences differ for students enrolled in the traditional courseand the revised course?Prior work explored student experiences in the laboratory by analyzing survey results from theSelf-Assessment and Direct Skills Test [1-4]. These assessments contained primarily close-endedquestions with some open-ended prompts. Distinct from prior work, the methodology for thiseffort followed the six phases for thematic analysis outlined by Braun and Clarke [5] and wasapplied using a phenomenological lens where the authors seek to describe different ways a groupof people (chemical engineering students) understand a phenomenon
