Ifte Choudhury is an Associate Professor in the Department of Construction Science at Texas A&M University. Dr. Choudhury has extensive experience as a consulting architect working on projects funded by the World Bank. His areas of emphasis include housing, alternative technology, issues related to international construction, and construction education. He is also a Fulbright scholar.

Abstract

The purpose of this study is to determine the factors of actual construction time for commercial and residentialprojects in South India. The data for the study was obtained from some leading architectural and engineeringcompanies in India. The sample size consisted of data for 90 construction projects completed in last years. Analysisof the data was done using a General Linear Model. The results indicated that actual construction cost, methods offinance, and methods of project delivery are major factors that can be used to predict actual construction time ofsuch projects in South India.Key words: Indian Construction Industry, Construction Time, Construction Cost, Construction Delivery Methods,Construction Finance, International Construction.
