the class. Each student is given two copies of Figure 2: one to keepfor themselves and the other to turn in and be graded. Another method is to have students write aparagraph on the exam using the terms from Figure 2. This exam question is shown in Figure 3.A variation on the exam question is to provide all of the terms in Figure 2 and have the studentsselect 8 or 10 terms to write in a paragraph. The intent of these questions is to see how well thestudents can relate the terms. This is accomplished when students understand the definitions inaddition to the relationship the terms have to each other. and outcomes to shape the boundaries of our efforts. The team isdeveloping a 'concept map' that covers the entire curriculum and depicts the disciplinary andinterdisciplinary boundaries of the courses involved.The second consideration is 'characteristics of participants,' i.e., how to define when to applydisciplinary competence and when to use other team member's insights. In this work, the teaminterweaved individual development time with weekly meetings to synchronize the teammembers as well as to assign new responsibilities in light of recent developments.
