contexts”. [1]The language in these criteria has become stronger and almost requires design projects toconsider the various dimensions indicated as opposed to indicating that from the menu ofoptions, the design project only needs to consider some of them.Another important element in designing ECE programs is to include a discussion of standards. This topic often receives little treatment in curricula but given the wide range of standards forECE technologies, as promoted through the Institute of Electrical and Electronic Engineers(IEEE) professional society [3], knowledge of pertinent standards is important for ECE studentsto understand. The senior capstone project course is a good one to address many of these broader considerationsfor engineering

Python and demonstrate how it can beused for solving a spectrum of chemical engineering problems. The example problems were takenfrom the undergraduate chemical engineering curriculum, e.g., from courses such as ChemicalEngineering Thermodynamics, Fluid Flow, Kinetics and Reactor Design, etc. Lectures andpractical sessions were complemented by six guest lectures delivered by engineers working inindustry who demonstrated the use of Python in their jobs. Not only did the course content differ from a conventional programming course, but the coursedelivery method was also unconventional. The course was offered in Spring 2021, when all of theclasses, including this one, were taught in the synchronous online mode. I used the “flippedclassroom” approach

practices [5].The Building Education RET site is a collaboration between engineering faculty in ArchitecturalEngineering and science education faculty at the Center for Science and the Schools at PennState University. As designed, the program emphasizes the intersection of sustainability, systemsthinking, and the practices of engineers to provide a holistic understanding of the nature ofengineering research. In this paper, we describe the structure of the Building Education RETprogram from the teachers’ technical research to curriculum development, and finally curriculumimplementation. The level of integration of the engineering practices into secondary curriculumbased upon the teachers’ research experiences is explored. We present an exemplar case

introducing grade 6-12 teachers to these topicsthrough simple mechanical models and computer based animated programs. This wasaccomplished through the Pre-Engineering Instructional and Outreach Program (PrE-IOP) at NJIT to enlarge the future pool of qualified high-tech workers in New Jersey, including those who have been historically underrepresented (such as minorities andwomen). The workshop uses hands on experience to explain scientific laws related tomass, motion, work, power and energy. Principles such as Newton’s Laws of Motion areexplained through practical examples. The concepts of simple machines and mechanismsto solve practical design problems are presented through geometrical constructions andmodel building. They learn how simple machines

. This was a great project to be involved with. Please let me know if you will offer more programs like this. The response of the NJIT team was generally quite good and the overall outline of the course was fine. I would have wanted to have more discussion about the total range of design/engineering possibilities with the LEGO components. I thought that there would be some more interaction; that is, some actual live discussions to supplement the self-directed work.Discussion: Lessons LearnedThe Computerized Conferencing System was one of several programs developed during the1980s that demonstrated the ability of establishing an electronic network for teachers tocommunicate with peers, share ideas, curriculum materials and

this study also suggest that these effects were neither universallyexperienced nor evenly distributed by all students. Our findings provide support for the notionthat student time management is best framed as an optimization problem that students andfaculty inherently view differently. By reconceptualizing the student time management questionin this new light, new avenues for improving engineering education practice open, particularlywith respect to the development of more inclusive and equitable teaching practices.Introduction The 2021-22 academic year has presented distinctive challenges in teaching and learning. With the transition from remote to face-to-face instruction, faculty have reported emergingpatterns of behavior that suggest

: The STEM Innovation Academy’s Approach to the Senior Capstone Project: Promoting a Culture of Excellence PROBLEM STATEMENT The Academy is located in Orange Public School district. The school was opened in September2017 to serve as an additional secondary option within the district to promote science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) programming. The Academy’s mission was to provide students witha personalized pathway toward mastery of the skills and knowledge that they will need to make thetransition from education to college and/or industry. The Academy sought to spark a transformation inteaching and learning by offering a combined design thinking and PBL

topuberty change in a mouse model [27]. Whether the effectiveness of using the van Hielelearning model of spatial abilities in the learning of physics would depend on male or female isan important project for future studies. Excel was used by more than 1 billion people accordingto a Microsoft survey conducted in 2016. The fact that there are more women students usingExcel in MBA programs than women students in our calculus physics class for engineeringmajors would suggest a conjecture that using Excel as a spatial- numeric tool could address theequity issue to recruit more women students in calculus physics for engineering majors. The advances in neuroscience could help instructors to design pedagogy with divergent thinkingexercises, with the van
