specific robot) is essential, and optimizing this aspect can significantly improve the efficiency oftask completion. All these experiments need to be conducted in different environments, indoorsand outdoors, and the type of obstacles also need to vary to create a realistic environment. Theimportance and desirability of developing vision-based mobile robotic systems are explored.Based on these studies, it is possible to develop and deploy an automated multi-robot system tohelp in construction applications. By adding more sensors, like ultrasonic sensors, to the blimp, obstacle avoidance can be achieved, as well as more accurate data. The hierarchical task solutioncan also be applied and tested in a real heterogeneous robotic system rather than a

, and control the network through a centralized control plane using a protocol called OpenFlow. Unlike traditional networking, SDN separates the control plane from the data plane, thereby reducing the overhead of each device and increasing manageability. SDN has proved to be a viable alternative for the smart grid OT networks considering the high-frequency data requirement of real-time applications to provide a quick situational awareness to network operators 21,22 .The hardware-in-the-Loop tested simulation platform provides the students with real-world hands-on experience in networking and data communication. Using the software network emulation tools, the students are able to emulate various technologies such as Wi-Fi

models and animations in thermodynamics course toincrease student knowledge in real world thermal engineering applications. This paper also describes theuse of active learning approach in face-to-face class and in an online class through interactive apps. Theentire course is redesigned with structured course content shared to students via canvas. The author taughtthe course in a traditional format for 3years which included teaching theoretical concepts, equations, andsolved application based textbook problems. Students who failed or scored a C grade in the course oftenstruggled to correlate course content with real world applications. Hence these students could not solveproblems. Students enrolled in thermodynamics course struggled with

implementations were more effective in knowledgeand skills transfer, participation, and interest, compared with a more traditional lecture-basedapproach to instruction. Notwithstanding these documented benefits, documented challengesespecially those rated to workload, monitoring students, and implementing tasks and activitieswithin the course timeline are some common difficulties experienced by faculty [16].Research Methods and ProceduresThis paper describes the implementation and evaluation of two PBL activities introduced to anonline advanced mechanical design course. The pedagogical practices discussed here focus onsolving a real-world problem and research of a new topic by integrating a collaborative modelwith multiple socio-technological dimensions

-drivenmethods to control the extent of regularization applied to the images have been considered[18-20].This paper describes the configuration of the wireless sensor network for collection and analysisof RSS link data across different environments encountered in real-world engineering projects.Section 2 identifies the setup and operation of the network. Section 3 discusses the application ofthe network to engineering projects specific to surveillance, environmental mapping, andtransportation. Section 4 discusses the possible STEM components of the network. Section 5outlines conclusions and future work. 2 Proceedings of the 2023 ASEE

uniquely designed not only to highlight the educational experience of thestudents but also to challenge their creativity in real world applications. These projects aredesigned to address specific research challenges on security in embedded systems design. Studentsshould be encouraged to work on complementary projects to promote student-studentcommunication and work collaboration. Research projects are designed in modular fashion toencourage students to independently pursue other variations and applications of the projects. Thefollowing research projects will be available to instructors of embedded systems design to includein their curricula. Some projects are explicitly defined while others are implicitly defined and willbe refined as students

motivation to do the task, but this was not the case for this project.R6 - It helped me stay motivated because it kept me interested. It helped me learn because we were using real worldnumbers which were not ideal like most practice problems.R7 - Researching a topic with real-world implications enhanced my learning by allowing me to think about howcertain aspects of the agrivoltaic farm would work in real-life, but my motivation was also diminished whenresearching funding opportunities, as the nature of the project did not meet many of the application requirements. Q10 - What lessons or skills have you learned through this research project?R1 - I learned how to better manage a project. I learned to think ahead of

methods were used to capture teachers’ understanding regarding the various STEMeducation models. The main goal was to provide support to teachers to advance in theimplementation of this educational model. It is possible to perceive that teachers are attracted bythe STEM model that goes beyond the classroom, as hands-on activities and real-world examples, which is extremely important to share and discuss this model in schools 5.Proceedings of the 2023 ASEE North Central Section ConferenceCopyright © 2023, American Society for Engineering Education 2 Bibliographical research was placed to identify STEM disciplines’ effectiveness, benefits, and limitations. and engineering, numerical methods play an important role. Thus, ourdepartment requires our mechanical and biomedical engineering students to take CPE 111, Introto Engineering Computation, in which they learn how to solve problems using MATLAB®. Ourelectrical and computer engineering students are introduced to the world of computing in CSC101 using the C programming language with the added bonus of LabVIEW® in EGR 225, theSignals & Systems course. Overseeing both CPE 111 and EGR 225, I regularly look forentertaining examples in which students can learn programming concepts while trying to solvewhat they will perceive as real-world problems. Having taught MAT 350, Numerical Methods, inFall ’22 I came across Monte Carlo integration which is

differences. By analyzing real-life case studies, the participantswill be able to explore how the banking model of education (Freire, 1970) disadvantages diverselearners (Felder & Brent, 2005) in addition to reducing the teaching and learning processes to abureaucratic certification exercise. The participants will have a chance to share experiencesfrom their classrooms and collectively identify a roadmap for supporting diverse learners. Indoing so, they will be critically evaluating the traditional approaches to engineering education, identifying existing gaps in student support structures, and exploring opportunities to mentordiverse talent. The participants will also be afforded an opportunity to co-author a papercollating the knowledge created

They come from large softwarecompanies and large federal agencies located in the region.SAMPLE AND DATA COLLECTIONFor the purposes of learning the perspective of the current learners and alumni, we designedthree surveys to target current students, alumni, and instructors. The surveys were delivered atseparate times. The current learners’ surveys were sent out in 2016 and 2021 and the Alumnisurveys were sent out in 2017 and 2021, while the instructor survey was sent out in 2021. In
