improvementof verbal communication for engineering students. The implementation has not onlyenhanced the students’ soft skills on technical communication but also has increased theinterest in energy topics, including renewable energy and sustainability. The debatesessions require students to conduct research on both their assigned topic they are toadvocate for, and the opponent’s topic that they are to debate against. Such preparationinvolves studying the strengths and weaknesses of competing topics, their theoretical andtechnical limitations, economic analyses, and environmental impacts. The debate sessionshave been conducted in a tournament structure where the qualifying teams haveprogressed to the next level, gradually yielding a final debate
create unified training and industry languageand address gaps in skills required in the future. The manufacturers attending the sessions requested the following for sessions to be developed in thefollowing topics suggested. They asked for a course on how to work in the manufacturingengineering field. This feedback included soft skills such as writing a resume, calling in when youwill be out from work, and how to schedule a vacation. A course would follow this course insoldering. All the companies in attendance thought the soldering skills were critical. They wouldallow the individual to have permanent employment at the company and be able to attend techniciantraining. Some employers were requesting soldering compliance to the J-STD-001. This
evaluations oftheir classmates' projects. Sample of such assignments, either projects, or weekly assignments, orsurveys, that support elevating essential EM engineering skills are highlighted below; some wereassigned as individual work, while others as teamwork. → MET 3100 and MET 4100: Pre- Engineering Skills SurveyWithin the first week of the semester, all students enrolled in both courses were invited tovoluntary participate in a comprehensive 76-question survey. This survey focused on assessingtheir soft skill proficiencies, such as collaboration, teamwork, curiosity, networking, informationliteracy, and their capacity to generate value.
