is crafted as an advanceddegree in the intended engineering field or in “a closely related field.” This closely related fieldcan be interpreted as a similar engineering field, but it can also be expanded to include otherfields like mathematics and science. The paper looked critically but objectively at the topic of mathematicians and scientists teachingengineering courses. It discussed the practices, advantages, and concerns associated with thisengineering education topic. Of course, the purpose of it is to promote engineering education.Introduction:Traditionally and logically, engineering courses at institutes of higher education have beentaught by faculty members who possess academic degrees in engineering among other requiredqualifications

Paper ID #45397Balancing Theory, Programming, and Practical Application for Teaching ofFinite Element Analysis CoursesDr. Rachmadian Wulandana, State University of New York at New Paltz My primary teaching assignments in SUNY New Paltz are in the thermal-fluid areas such as Thermodynamics, Thermal System Designs, Fluid Dynamics, and Heat Transfer. As I believe in active learning, group activities in classroom and team projects are the two teaching tools that I utilize most to enhance students mastery on the subjects. Examples of team projects undertaken by students are designs of thermal devices and energy systems and

and Guidance Issues) • Example from text: “But I did have help from my mentor and discussions from my friends, so I managed.” • Explanation: Without effective guidance, participants may struggle to refine and validate their creative ideas, making feedback a crucial factor in overcoming these challenges. This process was repeated twice, and a human expert eliminated some of the extremely irrelevantmappings. Since the study's objective was to compare human performance with AI, the humanexpert paid attention not to filter out all codes generated by ChatGPT (Figure 3). During thisprocess, ChatGPT also suggested a few new codes that were missed in the initial codeidentification phase. If the human expert found these new codes

system to counter the effects of climate change. 5. Climate change adaptation measures (CCAM): Adapting to the impacts of climate change.Irwin et al. [5] argues that understanding climate change is crucial for education to remainrelevant in the modern world. The traditional industrial model of education is no longersufficient in the face of climate change. A new eco-centric orientation is emerging, and educationmust adapt to address the issues of climate change.Pedagogical ApproachesMonroe et al. [6] present a systematic review of climate change education strategies thatidentified four key strategies for effective climate change education: 1. Focusing on personally relevant and meaningful information: Students are

class, then it is necessary to develop activitiesthat keep them occupied during the instruction. This may take up valuable time from coveringthe critical course material. This becomes even more challenging with teaching an engineeringcourse or when students are outside of their institution living in different time-zones. To alleviatethis concern, some instructors and universities are offering the course in a hybrid format. However, this also has its limitations. The hybrid format requires students to commute to thecampus on a regular basis. This may affect the enrollment in the class. Thus, synchronous andhybrid format have its limitations. This leads to the development of web-based asynchronousinstruction as the best choice to improve
