A large studyinvestigating the effects of a PLTL program across 16 universities found that the percentage ofstudents scoring an A, B, or C in a course increased by up to 20% compared to a non-PLTLimplementation of the same course (Gafney and Varma-Nelson, 2008). For each quarterly unit of the course, students were credited either (a) their exam score, or (b) the mean of their quiz scores, whichever was higher toward their final course grade.
