construction-related programs to consideradding contract changes and claims management as an elective course. Change is a part of constructionirrespective of the project delivery methods – change happens and should be properly planned for.Knowledge of contract changes and claims brings together various areas of construction practices. Fromconstruction law to construction materials and methods, cost estimating, value engineering, planning andscheduling, risk management, and leadership. This paper makes the case for teaching contract changesand claims management to students in construction-related programs and the paper also presents a modelsyllabus for the implementation of the course. For the students taking the class, this should help thembuild

Programming & CircuitryA large part of conventional ENGR 111 course curriculum is focused on the essentialfundamental engineering skills of programming and circuitry. Conversion of related classactivities to remote instruction was exponentially simplified due to the existence of another free, online platform known as Tinkercad (www.Tinkercad.com). The entire Tinkercad site includespowerful simulation software for a variety of purposes, such as 3D modeling and Arduinoprogramming. The circuit environment allows for design, programming, and simulation.Tinkercad has a simulation workspace and a component library that is based on existing Arduinokits. This allows for the creation of a variety of circuits that range from simple to complex. Inmost

Boeing-University Relations - A Review and Prospects for the Future John H. McMasters, Narayanan Komerath The Boeing Company / Georgia Institute of TechnologyAbstractThe Boeing Company has been noteworthy within the aerospace industry for its ambitiousuniversity relations program originally conceived in the early 1990s. This program has aimed atnot only creating strong company relations with universities important to its business interests, but also to lead broader industry efforts to enhance engineering and related technical andbusiness education programs across the nation. This paper reviews the development of theBoeing program, discusses important lessons learned from the overall effort, and

Using motivation and self-determination theory as a framework, the impact of earlyexposure to engineering and mathematics career opportunities is examined. In the larger study weutilized mixed methods to analyze how changes in middle school students’ affective characteristicsmay be linked to their future career decision

they want to pursue an engineering degree (Blaisdell14;13, 2002; 1998).Although women now have easier access to most engineering schools, there is a lingeringreluctance for women to choose education in technology related fields. Recruiting women intoengineering is a crucial issue if we want to increase the numbers of women in technical fields. However, the story does not end with recruitment. Nationwide retention rates show that out ofthe very few women who enroll in engineering programs in college, 22.7% dropout aftercompleting only threshold courses in engineering; and 35.4% withdraw after taking engineeringcourses beyond threshold, but before getting a degree. Only 41.9% of women who enroll inengineering programs complete their bachelor’s
