(baccalaureate-level general criteria and civil engineering program criteria). Each author identified the change that would be necessary to the CEPC to make it “fully-BOK2- compliant.” Each author assessed whether such compliance was reasonable and attainable given the real world constraints faced by civil engineering programs and drafted a rationale for any recommended change (or no change). In many cases, the “fully–BOK2- compliant” language and outcome report author’s recommendation were very different. The CEPCTC reviewed all 24 outcome reports during the bi-weekly telephone conferences conducted between April 9, 2013 and October 15, 2013. The committee did not attempt to reach consensus at this point

. Schneider graduated from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute in chemical engineering in 1999, attended Columbia University Film M.F.A. Program in 2001, and earned his master’s and Ph.D. from Cornell University in mechanical engineering with a concentration in controls & dynamics in 2007. David has taught at both Columbia University, where he was the highest student-rated instructor in the College of Engineering, and at Cornell University where he is now the Director of M.Eng. Studies for Systems Engineering, the largest M.Eng. program at Cornell. As a faculty member in systems engineering, David has focused largely on industry collaborations, ad- vising over 1200 professional M.Eng. students, and over 1000 students

The paper gives a description andcritique of each session, as well as suggested improvements for next year's program. Publicity for the events isalso discussed.Introduction ASU is a large university, with some 42,000 students; and a commuter school with only 23% ofstudents living within a mile of campus. The College of Engineering and Applied Sciences (CEAS) alone hasover 6,000 students. In Fall ‘95, over 1,000 of the CEAS students were new undergraduates, half first-timefreshmen and half new transfer students. To reduce the attrition rate of the college, and especially that

to this topic, students at the beginning of this class were provided with a list ofsixteen diverse companies and asked to circle which ones hired chemical engineers. Anecdotally, the average circled was around eight. However, several students (especially the upperclassman),figured out the assignment and realized that all of the companies hired chemical engineers. Atthis point, it was discussed how chemical engineers were used in those industries. Next, profilesfrom chemical engineers provided from the AIChE website were used as small groups of students’analyzed different profiles. A large group share ensued after this to discuss the links amongst thejobs. Finally, the issue of graduate school was discussed while M.S. and Ph. D. positions

This element is similar to, but certainly not the same as, “methods”classes which have beneficial effects.20 Page 15.108.11Simply having substantial T&E content in an undergraduate K-5 program is itself unique butthe question remains of how to assess competency in T&E for MST majors. The fields ofmath and science education have established methods to measure content knowledge (i.e.-PraxisTM tests). However, there is no such evaluation for K-5 teacher T&E contentknowledge. In this paper it is

Over the same time period, ABET’s Engineering Criteria 2000 introducedoutcomes-based assessment to the accreditation process for engineering degree programs1. Despite the fact that many universitiesare actively pursuing various ideas in their attempt to transform graduate education, federalscience agency programs continuously report that even the best research-based Master’s and PhDprograms that exist in the U.S. today are not fully prepared to provide the kind of support that theSTEM workforce needs [8], [9], [10], [11], [12], [13]. It becomes even more relevant when itcomes to the Big Data and Data Analytics (BDA) field, which incorporates professionals fromacross the STEM fields [14].Though there is a large body of research that

In this way allinvolved had opportunities to learn how to use this technology, in addition to thefocus technologies of the program, and to assess how it may be employedbetween our student groups for interactive design projects or in offering morecourses via DLT in the future. This experience also proved helpful in identifyingfuture improvements for our engineering laboratories on the two campuses toinclude DLT capabilities.A second workshop was conducted in August to review each module developed.Participants provided comments and constructive feedback. Engineers are actively involvedfrom the concept design stage which requires more involvement in product safety andenvironmental issues that have impact not only on workplace but also society at large7.Ethics is an important subject and should be an integral aspect of every engineer’s actions. However, very few teachers include ethics as a significant part of graduate programs. Over thepast several years, engineering colleges have been formulating and implementing assessment andfeedback processes for improving their curricula as required by the ABET accreditation criteria.Through these processes, many departments

If we accept the premise that this is anappropriate challenge, the question becomes how do we accomplish it? At West Point allstudents receive a couple hours worth of classes on proper social behavior and responsible use ofalcohol, usually taught to small groups based on a some common plan of instruction, in additionto many formal and informal “reminders” to use alcohol responsibly. This approach is commonthoroughout many universities and colleges. “Unfortunately, few interventions have adocumented positive impact in changing college drinking behavior. The retreat agenda include other items suchas the annual program assessment, a presentation on a student trip to Ecuador, and an extendedlunch where part-time faculty were included. The entire day should have been devoted to thisprocess. As a result, the faculty teams did not have enough time to fully develop their motionsand of the 14 motions developed, only five were fully discussed and voted on. There is strong evidence for improvements in retention as well as in the percentageof students who pursue graduate degrees. For example, a large study of nearly 15,000undergraduates funded by the National Science Foundation5 found that undergraduate studentswho participate in hands-on research are more likely to pursue advanced degrees in STEM fields. In a study of factors that promote student retention and success, Nagda et al.6 have shown thatundergraduate research increases retention rates in science and engineering programs, particularly for African-Americans and sophomores.
