The study took place at an urban, research-intensive, and predominately white institution.Snowball sampling was used due to the relatively small number of Latinas in engineering. Thefive participants were 18 or over, identified as Latina, and were senior undergraduateengineering majors who came from varied fields including aerospace, architectural, biomedical,chemical, and mechanical engineering. Four of the participants were of Mexican origin, and oneidentified as Salvadoran. The participants varied in their self-identified socio-economic status(three high; one middle; one low).
