Conference, October 6-7 – Penn State BerksThere are several survey responses that merit discussion. It is interesting to note that the percentchange in the interest in a career in math is much higher than that of science. From the data itcan be seen that the students had a much lower interest in math at the start of the program. Bycareful selection of activities, students were able to establish the real-world application of math, resulting in increased interest. In addition, increases in both the consideration of a career inengineering as well as the confidence of a successful career in engineering were statisticallysignificant as well. What is most thought-provoking is that the largest changes were not specificto choice of career, but unveiled

Theresults showed that most of the respondents had a very positive attitude toward the lab exercises. They also agreed that the simulators have successfully helped them develop their capabilities increating and analyzing wireless networks in real world scenarios.KeywordsNetwork simulation; wireless communications; practical hands-on exercise; virtualization;technology educationIntroductionIn the field of wireless communication, students have to learn not only theoretical knowledge butalso to practice realistic hands-on exercises. In general, two methods have been widely used tocreate a learning wireless network environment. One involves employing physical devices toaccomplish with a wireless network1 and the other is using simulators to
learningcharacteristics increase self-reliance in students who can apply sound higher-order thinking skillsin solving real-world engineering problems 7-9.The design-build activities in the DBT method can be utilized to train basic engineering andmanufacturing skills, systems design and implementation1. Also, through the process, the studentsgain experience in teamwork and communication. A key feature of the design-build projects isthat they are being operationally verifiable and therefore can provide feedback for modificationand improvements2. Two factors that greatly affect the success of the design-build projects in aconstruction setting are project team commitment and end user needs10. These two factors aresatisfied in the educational setting because the
project between the courses. The instructor ofCADD will assign a product design project to CADD students. The project requires students todesign 3D computer models of parts that assemble to the student projects that are machined inManufacturing Processes. Students in CADD will be able to verify their designs physically by3D printing instead of visualizing their designs on computer screens. The instructors in bothcourses will work closely with the students to indicate the design requirements of their project. This joint project will provide students with a real-world experience in product development. The students will experience the difference between 3D computer models, 3D printed prototypes, and actual assembled products. Most of the MET courses
