A pre- andpost-program survey will be distributed to measure the knowledge gained on agriculture andsustainability. These data will be a valuable reference to the educational strategy andeffectiveness of the hands-on learning experience in the new proposed course.Figure 3.1 School courtyard garden (location A) Figure 3.2 School courtyard garden (Location B)Figure 3.2 Classroom seeding activity Figure 3.3 Classroom seeding activityBackground research, logistics, and the next stepTo develop a framework and initiate groundwork for the new technical elective, backgroundresearch requires examining the

Fig. 2 – Educational tools, software and hand-on activityIntroduction to lateral load resisting systems using in-class educational toolsLateral loads resisting systems were introduced using two educational tools. The first one shown in Fig.3a was used to have the students familiarizing themselves with the concepts of vibration and resonance. The wood platform is installed on wheels that allow a left-right movement (Fig. 3b). By shaking thetable, students noticed that only one of the steel rods at the time was moving. In particular, the fasterthe

selected pattern in activity one.Kaplan (2000) has presented different approaches for visualizing geometric patterns includingplain, outline, checkerboard and outline-and-checkerboard approaches. In this activity, theseapproaches are utilized to develop the three-dimensional shading screen from the two-dimensional geometric pattern. The shading function of the selected pattern, a 12-fold polygon, is shown in figure 5. Figure 7(a)shows the plain pattern in the x-y plane. The lines that create the pattern are offset on both sideof the lines to generate outline. As shown in figure 7 (b), the blue lines indicate the outline ofpatterns that are used to visualize solids and voids in the screen. Pattern outlines are filled withhatches in figure 7 (c

also or alternativelyemploy non-tenure track instructors for their capstones. 67% of the programs indicated that thecourse also utilized some form of industry for an instructional teaching role.It is common to have support beyond the course instructor(s) such as teaching assistants, graders, industry professionals, and/or dedicated staff. Figure 2b shows that industry providessupplementary support to capstone courses in 80% of the programs, with graders and teachingassistants also utilized in 14 - 40% of the courses. The “Other” category indicated in Figure 2bincludes those AE programs that utilize lecturers from outside the program. a) Who Teaches in the Capstone b) Course Support in the Capstone
