By working with her mentor through eachstep in the research process, the student gained confidence in her abilities to be successful inresearch. With minimal previous research experience, the student was initially reluctant tocommit to the rigors of graduate school research for fear of failure, despite having interest inresearch. Fall 2018 visitedthe same Duke Energy hydroelectric generation facility mentioned above, and received a powerplant tour from one of their engineers. During the Spring 2020 semester, students visited andtoured the Eaton corporation facility located in Arden, NC.
