attainment ofengineering students has been shown to vary significantly between ethnic groups [1]. Whilstit is recognized that the participation rates of minoritized students varies across individualdisciplines within science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) [2], thereexists a general underrepresentation of those referred to as ‘BME’ [* see Notes] [3].Participation rates also vary between level of study, with 32.3 % of those accepted onto UKbased engineering undergraduate courses in 2017 classed as ‘BME’, compared to only 22.2%at graduate research level [3].
