A specific focus was placed on the use of face masks made from common textilematerials. The “Mask Effectiveness” project required the development of Excel-based animations andtools that encourage students to explore relationships between air pollutants and materials science. The tool was developed such that it provides a solution to the limitations of a student design projectfor online and hybrid courses. By engaging with the computer-based Excel tool, students are ableto

Kate similarly sees success as being future-oriented but also brings attention to the process of becoming successful. To Kate, “success is a state function.” A state function means the path taken from A to B is independent of the route taken. Therefore, there are many paths to being successful. While Kate notes grades

”. Participants were then asked to complete eight tasks: two eyes open baselines, two eyesclosed baselines, two 0-back tasks, and two stop-signal tasks. The 0-back tasks consisted ofletters that would flash across the screen. If the letter was an ‘M’, participants pressed thecorresponding character on their keyboard; otherwise, they were to do nothing. The stop-signaltasks were much more challenging tasks that required participants to discern between left andright arrows. If the arrow pointed left, the participant was to press ‘B’, and if the arrow pointedright, the participant was to press ‘N’. However, there was a ‘stop signal’: when a red circleflashed, the participant was to do nothing. The 0-back and stop-signal tasks were coded andcompiled using

compared it to a controlgroup of their peers. Specifically from data, we can make the following conclusions. The GPAs of the Scientific Village (SV) cohort (Group A) were compared with those of their non-SV peers (Group B) to determine the effect of participation in the program. GPA comparisons ofparticipants and corresponding STEM groups at the College are shown in Table 1 for spring 2017to spring 2019 semesters and graduates. Two sided t-tests after checking equality of variances withF-tests are presented. From the table, it can be seen that all of the p-values of equality of variancestests are greater than 5% significance level. Thus, based on the sample data, we fail to reject thenull hypothesis that Ho: σA2= σB2. Pooled t-tests are then used

For example, it has been argued that of the three possible explanationsfor the current gender gap, that is, (a) differences in mathematical and spatial ability, (b)sex discrimination, and (c) gender differences in interests, preferences, and lifestylechoices, the third one, particularly as it relates to “fertility choices,” is dominant [56].There is much room for research to reconcile the differing views. An up-to-dateassessment of persistent gender gaps in a number of STEM subareas, referred to asPECS (physics, engineering, and computer science), has been offered by Cimpian

In general, an internship canimprove the academic learning status of a student by a) providing more profound learning of subjects incomparison to the limited subject introduction in the classroom b) enabling the students’ critical thinkingon complex problems of real projects c) providing an ideal and engaging continuous learning environmentfor the students [31]. Internships can also benefit the universities. Based on Routon and Walker’s [30]study, for universities, internships can increase students’ satisfaction rates, graduate school enrollmentrates, and coursework retention [30]. problem-based learning (PBL) sessions. Two perturbations required the F2F teaching to convert to online delivery: (a) the response to the2020 COVID-19 pandemic and (b) the department’s desire to begin offering the course insummer semesters. The conversion of a traditional F2F course to online instruction possesseschallenges to ensure mastery of learning outcomes are not jeopardized. Challenges includemaintaining engagement, enabling interaction between students, teaching math-intensivematerial virtually while preventing Zoom fatigue, and maintaining active learning strategies. Toaddress these challenges a novel initiative was developed to convert a traditionally-taught courseto its final form to a blended course consisting of asynchronous mini
