Program focuses on first year students [10,12]. Although it isinteresting that even with no control on academic level there was still a significant increase inconfidence with campus resources.Overall, the program was extremely successful at meeting the desired outcome for students tobecome more knowledgeable about what they need to succeed in their academic and personalsuccess. Consequently, too few underserved students such as
pedagogy in introductory engineering [3], design skilldevelopment in courses between introductory cornerstone and final capstone [4], and even uniteclinical and engineering students [5]. Some universities are exploring the best ways toencourage faculty to incorporate makerspaces in their curricula. This may take as simple a formas pop-up “inreach/outreach” demonstrations that expose faculty and staff to makerspaceequipment [6]. For those seeking a higher intensity experience, B-Fab, a fabrication workshoporganized by Bucknell University, trains faculty to use equipment often found in a makerspacewhile exposing them to related pedagogical theory and example makerspace STEM projects [7].Carnasciali and coauthors surveyed faculty given three

Combined, these data sourcesshed light on expectations students developed by the end of the program. We found that studentsemerged from the SBP with varying degrees of expectations regarding the alignment between theSBP experience and a college semester in engineering. We also found that students’ experiencesand observations led them to recognize that marginalization exists in engineering while they alsoviewed engineering as a level playing field.
