very limited schools offer this course, there is a lack ofideal textbooks to cover the entire course content, which not only creates difficulties for theinstructor to design lecture materials, but also makes it very challenging for students to keep upwith the pace of the lecture content through activities outside of the classroom, instead of relyingsolely on the very limited in-class time. Finally, because of the depth of technical contents thatare to be covered, similar contents are more commonly found in graduate level curriculums, there is also the issue of how to effectively adapt the course content for an undergraduateaudience.2 Due to the above mentioned challenges, the instructor has to apply different strategiesto not only attract

Education, 2018 Work-in-Progress: A Framework for Development of Web-based Multimedia Pre-laboratory ExercisesIntroductionEngineering is an applied discipline, and therefore, undergraduate laboratories are considered anessential part of engineering curriculum [1], [2]. Laboratories help reinforce theoretical concepts[3], and improve skills such as problem solving, analytical thinking and technical skills [4]-[6].Other benefits include learning professional skills such as time management, teamwork, effectivewriting and oral communication skills [7]-[11].Despite the potential value of undergraduate laboratories, there is a general agreement that theactual learning outcomes often do not balance the time, effort, and money

It simplifies the steps required for process analysis, provides networkbased system solution for remote product identification, physical security, operationalproductivity and inventory management. Beyond the manufacturing industry this philosophy isused in NASA, trucking industry, oil industry and material handling applications as well.As industry is continuously evolving with the integration of new technology, educationalcurricula are under pressure to produce graduates literate in current technology without overburdening the curriculum load in a program. Based on existing technology in data monitoringand transmission, teaching process control by bringing the monitoring and analysis of

by enhancing students’logical and critical thinking through the use of visual programming tools such as RAPTOR inintroductory computing courses. RAPTOR is a visual programming development environment based onflowcharts. Students can build simple procedural programs without learning the details of a language. These features of RAPTOR has helped us in providing an Interdisciplinary Integrated Teaching andLearning experiences that integrates team-oriented, hands-on learning experiences throughout theengineering technology and sciences curriculum and engages students in the design and analysis processbeginning with their first year. The objective of this paper is to discuss our experiences with the use ofRAPTOR in various science and technology

The collaboration betweenNorman Foster and ARUP Engineering [10] (Fig.7) serves as a pre-eminent example, and hasyielded several significant built works that have re-defined the role of technology in design andthe discourse between the formal and the constructible. The use of NURBS-based modelers in architectural design provides the potential for students toexplore design options that were to a large extent inconceivable in the context of conventionaldesign processes using conventional vector-based computer aided design and drafting tools. Therefore, design projects with an emphasis on structure in an

However, last summer, one junior student worked as an intern tocontinue the integration supported by A&K Systems. Last December, a member of the Badgerbusiness team from the second year, who was an international exchange student fromLeTourneau University, contacted the faculty to address the interest to participate the ‘startup’contest as part of LeTourneau University’s curriculum. Here our first-generation students earned an average score of 565on the Math portion of the SAT compared to the score of 580 earned on average by continuing-generation peers. In this case, the lower performance of first-generation engineering technologystudents was statistically significant. What this communicated to us is that our first-generation students enter UNC Charlotte havingearned stronger GPAs while in high school than their counterparts who were not the first in theirfamilies to attend college. While the standardized test scores were lower
