The CSU Board of Trustees presented a proposal in September 2012 to achieve the unit reduction, in part, by eliminating all advanced GE requirements. This proposal was prepared with no faculty input, in direct contradiction to the deeply engrained shared governance culture within the CSU system. Astudy by Cooper et al.2 integrated 39 studies examining the effects of summer vacation onstandardized achievement test scores.
