An index to aid in the development of High School recruitment of future Engineering and Science majorsWe propose an index to aid institutions of higher education to bettertarget professional development programs for high school teachers andrecruitment of students. In particular, we propose the index, hs, of aninstitution of higher education, defined as the number of high schoolswho have graduates enrolling in the institution >= hs as a usefulindicator for the selection of high schools with whom an institutionshould work in the areas of professional development and recruitment ofstudents. Using this hs-index for ___________ university, we have beenable to show how professional development programs with regional highschools have positively impacted student enrollment in our engineeringand science degree programs.
