David Greenburg is an Associate Professor and Head of the Department of Engineering Leadership and Program Management (ELPM) in the School of Engineering (SOE) at The Citadel. He served over 20 years of active military service in the United States Marine Corps in a variety of command and staff and leadership positions. Upon completion of active military service, he was a program manager in industry for seventeen years until he joined the faculty at The Citadel. His research interests include modeling project networks, technical decision making and leadership. He is a certified Project Management Professional (PMP).
Dr. Dimitra Michalaka is an Associate Professor at the department of civil and environmental engineering at The Citadel and the Associate Director for the Center for Connected Multimodal Mobility (C2M2). Dr. Michalaka received her undergraduate diploma in civil engineering from the National Technical University of Athens (NTUA), after which she entered into the transportation engineering graduate program at University of Florida (UF). She graduated with a Master’s of Science (M.S) in 2009 and with a Ph.D. in 2012. Her research is primarily focused on traffic operations, congestion pricing, traffic simulation, and engineering education. Dr. Michalaka is a registered Professional Engineering in the state of South Carolina. Also, in December 2020, she graduated with a M.S. in Project Management from The Citadel.
Tyler Miner, MSPM., is a graduate of the Master of Science in Project Management program at The Citadel, the Military College of South Carolina. Mr. Miner spent the last 7 years in the production of consumer products and supply chain management industry in Charleston, SC. He is an accomplished production and project manager, who has applied his acquired project management tools and techniques to elevate the teams and companies he has been proud to lead and or be a part of.
The Department of Engineering Leadership and Program Management at the [College] designed and implemented a graduate course to teach the fundamentals of Agile project management as part of the MS Technical Project Management curriculum. The course was designed to provide a solid foundation in Agile methodologies for project management practice to enable graduates to execute appropriate Agile techniques to plan, execute and deliver quality results that frequently deliver value to customers. During the course students are introduced to processes for developing user stories and story maps, estimate and plan for sprints, track project execution and releases using burn-down charts and conduct retrospective sessions. This paper discusses how a graduate student was able to successfully apply the Agile project management principles and processes learned in the graduate program as a capstone project to develop and implement a solution to an actual significant business problem his business organization was facing.
