Applying Six Sigma in Higher Education Quality Improvement The initiatives for quality improvement in higher education have been embraced by institutionsacross the world. Continuous improvement process has been recognized as one of the most importantand effective approaches towards quality. The use of Six Sigma, specifically the tools of StatisticalProcess Control and Lean Principles, in academic applications is highly underdeveloped. Highereducation institutions can use six sigma tools to understand and improve their processes. Using thesetools appropriately can also develop a sustainable process to meet the stakeholders’ requirements andexpectations. A number of six sigma tools were developed for application in higher education processthat will be presented in the paper. Higher education institutions can use these tools to improve theirprocesses to improve quality.
