Abstract

At Penn State Behrend, an introductory engineering graphics course traditionally had paper-based theory exams that incorporated true/false, multiple choice, short answer, and sketching questions. These exams were converted to an all online format. The exams are taken in person during a lab period under supervised conditions, and are open book. There is no hand sketching on the exams, the sketching-related questions have been changed to true/false, or multiple choice questions with incorrect sketches based on common student errors. Analysis comparing traditional paper-based exams to these fully online exams found that there was no statistically significant difference in the scores of the exams.
