Crop Monitoring System: A Case of Teaching Machine Vision through Undergraduate ResearchD M Bulanon, Northwest Nazarene UniversityAbstractNorthwest Nazarene University, which is located at the Treasure Valley area of Idaho, is developing acrop monitoring platform (CMP). The CMP, which is composed of an image acquisition system and animage processing system, estimates fruit tree parameters such as tree canopy volume and canopyreflectance characteristics. The research project is conducted by undergraduate engineering students andtheir research adviser. This paper presents a case of teaching machine vision through undergraduateresearch.
