AB  - This Scholarships for STEM students (S-STEM) project awards scholarships of$5,000 per year for 2 years to academically talented low-income, full-timestudents (in three separate cohorts) to obtain degrees in engineering at WichitaState University (WSU). The recruitment efforts specifically target low-incomestudents in these populations: women, minorities, and students from underservedurban schools. The objectives are: to increase the graduation success amonglow-income students; to increase the number of students in the targetpopulations who earn baccalaureate degrees in engineering; to developprograms to increase retention, and to provide students a transition to workthrough the WSU coop program or as an undergraduate research assistant.
