The authors present here a way to utilize MATLAB for the solution of a class of static and dynamic solid mechanics problems. In particular, the authors demonstrate with simple codes that complicated problems of bending, buckling and beam vibration can be solved with high accuracy and, in the case of beam vibration, can also be animated.
