The point bartering system is a system in whichstudents have the ability to respond to assessment questions and receivereduced points in exchange for hints that lead to the answer. They have anopportunity to select multiple tips for reduced points. This presentation willpresent a study that will be conducted in Spring of 2014 at a Midwestern stateuniversity in a class of twenty-five freshman and sophomores. Half of thestudents will be allowed to use the point bartering system while the other half ofthe students will use no system. The students will receive the same questionsand have an equal amount of time in order to complete the assessment.Presentation Format: The presentation will provide an overview of the study that was conducted andshowcase the results of both the pilot study and the actual study. Participantswill be able to understand how point bartering can be utilized as they evaluatetheir own examinations. Participants will gain an understanding of how pointbartering can help a student learn while they are taking an assessment. A slidepresentation will be presented with discussion.
