Abstract

The mechanism of the engineer’s cultivation through combining training with scientific research——Practices and Cases of Training Excellent Engineer in ** University AbstractBackground: Many reports presented the engineer's cultivation from the angles of trainingand scientific research respectively, which are mainly based on elements of education itself. But engineers ‘s main professional task is the engineering practice and its application insolving engineering problems. It is very important to improve training research capabilitybased on engineering practice needs. ** University attempted to bridge this gap byConducting a Professional Development Program in engineering education, and carrying outrelevant theoretical and practical exploration of the mechanism.Purpose: This article proposes training programs based on analysis of engineer ‘s researchneeds and ability from 2013 to 2014, uses the survey results to identify promising pathwaysfor transforming engineer's education innovation.Design/Method: Firstly, The article designs initial training programs based on capacityanalysis and takes into practice, after that organize training effect feedback and research needssurvey. Secondly, quantitative data and qualitative responses were separately analyzed andthen mixed by training content design frameworks for a variable with a four categories ofresearch needs factors (professional basis, research capacity, research environment andresearch mode) . The transcripts were analyzed by using a constant comparative method todetermine training content and research needs reform mutually reinforcing mechanisms andmethods, combined with research needs tracking feedback and training effectiveness. Results: According to analyses of different courses satisfaction, we can find Induction ofdemand improving scientific research and training programs designed internal relations.Comprehensive analysis of three training cadets categorized into learning structuraldeficiencies, scientific research characteristics and ability of scientific research. Conclusions: The most efficient cultivation for engineer education lies in developing a sharedtraining with scientific research vision for educational innovation. The findings of this articlecould help engineer avoid weaknesses and improved their comprehensive abilities, it alsoprovides a foundation for ongoing discussion and evaluating progress.
