Dr. Pramod Khargonekar was appointed Assistant Director for Engineering at the National Science
Foundation in March 2013. Prior to joining NSF, he served as the U. S. Department of Energy’s ARPA-E
Deputy Director of Technology. Pramod’s research interest and scholarly work in the theory and
applications of systems and control have led to recognition as a Web of Science Highly Cited Researcher,
the NSF Presidential Young Investigator Award, and the American Automatic Control Council’s Donald
Eckman Award. Pramod received a B. Tech. Degree in electrical engineering from the Indian Institute of
Technology, and a M.S. degree in mathematics and Ph.D. degree in electrical engineering from the
University of Florida.
