AB  -            Coordination and Alignment of Electrical and Information            Engineering in European Higher Education InstitutionsThis paper will present the objectives and common projects run under the patronage ofEAEEIE. The EAEEIE (European Association for Education in Electrical and InformationEngineering) is a European non-profit organization, with members from nearly seventy EuropeanUniversities, most of them teaching in the area of Electrical and Information Engineering (EIE).The consortium composed of 60 European universities worked together on the ELLEIEC-project: Enhancing Lifelong Learning for the Electrical and Information EngineeringCommunity. The implementation of the Bologna process offers us an opportunity to create aEuropean dimension to our EIE (Electrical and Information Engineering) Degrees in the WorldWide education area by convergence of our curricula and strengthening the links and sharing ofresources between European Higher Education Institutions. The first objective of the ELLEIECproject was to develop a virtual European Centre for Entrepreneurship Education in Electricaland Information Engineering with an internal e-learning assessment offer to be a reference pointfor any applicant in the Lifelong Learning framework. The second objective was to studythrough an experiment and a survey of the mutual recognition process to gather information ongood practice in the design of International cooperation at both master and bachelor levels. Atthe same time, an investigation was undertaken across different European countries on how toincorporate the accreditation of prior lifelong learning into the PhD process in order to allowengineers within a company to move back into education, continue their studies and prepare andvalidate a doctoral thesis. The conclusions of ELLEIE project are presented. We also present thefollow-up project, which run from October 2012 to November 2015, named SALEIE - StrategicAlignment of Electrical and Information Engineering in European Higher Education Institutions.In SALEIE project participates 45 European universities and this project sets out to firstlyexplore and then provide models for ways in which Higher Education Institutions of Europe inthe Electrical and Information Engineering disciplines can respond to current challenges. Themain challenges addressed by this project are:1. Ensuring graduates are prepared to respond to the current global technical challenges in the    Green Energy the Environment and Sustainability, Communications and IT, Health, and    Modern Manufacturing Systems (including Robotics), that is, a “new skills for new jobs”    approach. This will embrace conventional education, lifelong learning and training for    entrepreneurship.2. Ensuring that program and module governance is sufficiently well understood that issues of    mobility, progression and employment are understandable by appropriate stakeholders    including the accrediting bodies for professional engineers.3. Ensuring all learners, irrespective of their background or personal challenges, including:    dyslexia and dyspraxia; visual and audio impairments; and mental disabilities such as    aspergers, autism, depression, anxiety; are given equal opportunity to education and are    appropriately supported.
