AB  -              Development of a Mobile App for Engineering Economics*  This paper presents the development and the preliminary assessment results of a mobile app fortwo Engineering Economics courses: one online, and one on-campus. The mobile app consists of5 tabs: E-book, calculator, tables, conceptual questions and practice problems. The E-book is asummary of the key concepts of Engineering Economics. The calculator provides functions tosolve basic engineering economics problems with formulas. The tables allow the users tocompute discrete compound interest factors. The conceptual questions give the users anopportunity to review and quiz key concepts. The practice problems generate problems withrandom parameters allowing learners to practice as much as they want. The same mobile app hasbeen developed for both Apple iOS and Google Android platforms. We will release ourdeveloped apps to the public after full assessment in the College of Engineering at *****university. It will give students more opportunity to learn and practice Engineering Economicswhenever they have spare time. The preliminary assessment results are presented in this paper.The assessment compares the results from an experiment group and a control group. Theexperiment group has the access to the mobile app. The control group has access to theweb-based course materials. Each group has about 30 students. In addition, surveys andinterviews are conducted with randomly selected students to get a better understanding of theimpact of the mobile app. For future work, further development and improvement with formativeassessment is planned in the next three years.* This project is partially supported by a grant from the National Science FoundationDUE-####### to ***** University.
