It hascontributed to the development of doctoral education by promoting advanced, high-qualityresearch work and training future Phd’s with a clear focus on international researchcollaboration.TEE has developed a network for excellence in engineering (Universitat Politecnica de Valencia,University of Cambridge, Universita di Roma “la Sapienza”, Universite Paris-Sud, GhentUniversity, TU Berlin, North Carolina State University, University of California Davis, Universityof Pennsylvania, McGill University and the University of British Columbia) resulting in theimplementation of future academic cooperation and joint postgraduate programmes, forcontinued promotion and sustainable region-to-region cooperation.The paper presents the results after 2 years of the project operation which is leading to a newapproach for future doctoral education based on research collaboration.Today’s collaboration in education has not evolved at the same pace as interpersonalinteractivities for research and joint work among research Universities. The excellence of anengineering program cannot be granted without the multidisciplinary spectra needed formaintaining a leading edge for Engineering in our interconnected world. TEE has established aninstitutional dialogue between first level Universities in Canada, US and Europe. Mobilities andFaculty dialogue has proved key for fostering mutual cooperation, creating a pool of expertiseand know-how that will set the basis for the future implementation of joint doctoral educationprograms in engineering.
