AB  - How  would  philosophy  of  engineering  help  us  conducting  better  classes  in  engineering  disciplines?        Recently,  there  have  been  more  than  one  creative  and  systematic  efforts  in  identifying,  defining,  and  working  on  philosophical  basis  and  foundations  of  engineering.    For  examples  the  researchers  in  the  area  believe  the  philosophical  foundation  of  engineering  are  not  and  should  not  necessarily  be  the  same  as  the  ones  for  sciences.    In  the  valuable  endeavor  to  search  and  identify  philosophical  basis  for  engineering  and  engineering  education,  the  fundamental  premise  is  that  having  a  better  understanding  of  such  philosophical  basis  will  help  engineering  educators  to  design  better  classes  with  pedagogical  approaches  for  more  effective  engineering  training.    Most  engineering  educators,  when  facing  with  this  dilemma,  always  ask  how  would  understanding  and  awareness  of  philosophy  of  engineering  help  them  in  conducting  the  more  effective  classes.      This  paper  reviews  the  background  of  the  effort  and  the  needs  for  such  a  search.    The  paper  will  provide  examples  of  successful  adaptations  of  engineering  classes  that  also  advocate  and  use  philosophy  of  engineering  as  well  as  some  ongoing  approaches.  Historical  precedents  and  perspectives  will  be  discussed  and  possible  venues  for  creating  and  conducting  technical  engineering  classes  will  be  provided.        Finally,  important  questions  and  challenges  with  bearings  on  defining  and  shaping  engineering  pedagogy  for  the  future,  as  well  as  possible  role  of  better  understanding  of  engineering  philosophy  in  the  future  developments  will,  be  presented  and  discussed.
