AB  - In 2019, Anonymous University in the U.S. (AUUS) launched an interdisciplinary international program with Anonymous University in Europe (AUE). A cohort of STEM students and faculty from AUSS spent 3 weeks in Europe to participate in technical presentation and intercultural learning program that was mutually developed with the international partner. In the course, AUSS students were joined by peers from the partner institution abroad, collaborating extensively. The mobility program was proceeded by a preparatory course which introduced AUUS students to the language and culture of the host European nation. The initiative was the most popular faculty-led program in the STEM college of AUUS. In 2020, COVID-19 necessitated the cancellation of all international student mobility programs. In response, faculty members from AUSS and AUE created a virtual option with two components: an intercultural learning pre-course that built upon the prior model by incorporating students from both institutions and a subsequent technical presentation course. In the spring 2021 semester, approximately 40 students from both universities are currently being instructed synchronously over Zoom in an interactive and engaging format that fosters the development of global competencies, intercultural learning, and foreign language acquisition. Should conditions be favorable, students from AUUS will be eligible to travel to AUE for a 1-week capstone experience. This experience will further develop communication abilities, cultural competencies, and include visits to international organizations.
