Abstract

- The [redacted] initiative (AAA) began as a collaboration between library and engineering faculty in the Spring of 2017. Its primary mission was to develop new programming to reinforce professional skill development among Engineering students. During the summer of 2020 the AAA initiative partnered with [Name removed] Summer Undergraduate Research (SUR) Program to develop an 8 week long workshop series aimed at creating a space for the students in the program to gain experience in areas such as scientific communication, visualization, ethics and research, information literacy, and mentorship. A pre- and post- survey was provided to the students to evaluate the effectiveness of the workshops and offer an opportunity for direct student feedback. In addition to these surveys students from the SUR program were given the option to participate in 1 on 1 interviews with leadership of the AAA initiative. This paper presents the preliminary results from the data collected in the summer of 2020, as well as providing resources for other institutions interested in implementing a similar program.
