Example from Strength of MaterialsStudents designing a timber ‘T’ beam for a quiz question exemplified how a model and theaccompanying mathematics is, or is not, used in engineering. The beam is constructed using twoplanks by setting one on edge (the stem of the T) and nailing the other down the middle to thetop edge.
