Engineering department.Dr. Matthew K Swenty P.E., Virginia Military Institute Matthew (Matt) Swenty obtained his Bachelors and Masters degrees in Civil Engineering from Missouri S&T and then worked as a bridge designer at the Missouri Department of Transportation. He obtained his Ph.D. in Civil Engineering at Virginia Tech and worked at the Turner-Fairbank Highway Research Center on bridge research. He is currently The Jackson-Hope Professor of Civil Engineering at the Virginia Military Institute (VMI). He was previously an Associate Engineer at IBM and a Visiting Research Scientist at NASA Ames, in total for four years, and has been a registered Professional Engineer since 1992. He has served ten terms as a Topical Editor or Associate Editor of various IEEE Transactions and in many IEEE/ACM/ASEE conferences including General Co- Chair of GLSVLSI-2023.
