The REU site goals are to enhance the knowledge and skill-level ofundergraduates through empowering, hands-on and interdisciplinary research experiences inmetrology and non-destructive inspection (NDI) technologies. As part of this program, each year,10-12 undergraduates who are external to the university spend ~10 summer weeks on campusengaged in a research project; they take part in the aforementioned NDI workshop during this time.As a result, the site impact is to create empowered future researchers and a workforce well-rooted inmetrology/inspection techniques, and to motivate them to pursue advanced study and STEM
