non-technical soft skills to producethe desired project outcomes. The Project Management Institute's Standard for ProjectManagement in the Project Management Body of Knowledge (PMBOK ®) Guide – SeventhEdition includes 12 principles to guide the behaviors of project practitioners toward successfulproject deliveries that create value. Introducing the project management principles to engineeringstudents will enhance their career skills by guiding the behaviors in future project environments. This one-week module was created to better equip engineering students with projectmanagement competencies within an undergraduate three-credit hour project management careerskills course. The module includes a lecture on the 12 guiding principles from the

%. Figure 2. Senior Exit Survey Results for question (a)-(m), Fall 2020Both Figure 1 and Figure 2 showed that the current ME curriculum fell below the expectations ofthe students as “Well Prepared” and “Very Well Prepared” in keeping the knowledge, skills, andapplications updated. Also, it indicated that the soft skills, like ethical awareness, communication, and cross-disciplinary experience, teamwork, taught in the college did not match the expectationsfrom the students’ perspectives. The student's outcome descriptions shifted from 13 questions to 7 questions after the Fall 2020semester. Figure 3 shows the survey done in the Spring 2021 semester. Without significant changein the curriculum, the survey results seem to have improved in those 7

valuable experience;however, receiving guidance and feedback on team interactions are uncommon even though theycan significantly enhance team behaviors [2]. Additionally, design courses tend to focus on thetechnical skills needed for projects work, and rarely are students taught how to work in teams [3].Designing teamwork exercises and dedicating class time for students to practice these skills, while important, often detracts from the content specific to their disciplines [4]. Hence, there is aneed for educators to employ an easy method that allows students to practice the development ofinterpersonal or “soft” skills early on in their academic career to ensure that they are well-equipped by the time they enroll in design or capstone courses. The

to think [2]. Liberal arts particularly helpstudents develop professional identities, soft skills, and engage with other cultures and histories[3] convincing students of the non-neutrality of technology [4]. Yet, the means for integratingliberal arts education into high credit hour, technical engineering programs remains far from asolved problem. Some engineering educators equate liberal arts with professional skills and hope that generaleducation requirements will provide students with the necessary breadth of critical thinking skills[2]. At the other end of the spectrum, a growing number of schools are offering bachelor’s of artsdegrees in “Science, Technology, and Society” or minors in urban sustainability and similarlyintegrated topics [5
