computeror information security systems have been incorporated in several engineering and computerscience curriculum. However, there has not been enough progress in developing an engineeringcurriculum dedicated to security technologies. The objective of this paper is to propose a newengineering and technology curriculum on security technologies which will introduce thestudents to different types of digital and physical techniques employed to maintain the securityand privacy of any physical resources. Different algorithms and systems will be included in theprogram to deal with cryptographic techniques, biometrics, image processing concepts andhardware implementations. The curriculum will train the students on audio and videosurveillance, access

provide future engineers a mindset to think like problem solvers. Earlyexposure of systems engineering and project management principles in the curriculum would bebeneficial for all engineering and computer science students, because many of them will enterworkforce and manage critical interdisciplinary systems and work with peers from variousbackgrounds. The scope of systems engineering and project management can range from missiledefense to non-profit organizations and covers many aspects of our daily life.In this paper, an outline of first year systems engineering and project management topics andtheir rationale are discussed based on industry standard bodies of knowledge (BoK) and recentgraduate survey reports. Early exposure of both business

education is engineering. While close to 320 engineeringschools in the USA have received accreditation from the Accreditation Board for Engineeringand Technology (ABET) for their undergraduate programs, only a handful of those offerengineering programs that are completely online at the graduate and/or undergraduate level. Thetrend has started to change lately, and every year more and more engineering programs areadding an online component to their regular curriculum. The main obstacle is the fact that mostengineering curriculums require a very intensive hands-on laboratory component that is veryhard to implement and deliver completely online because of the cost involved in setting uplaboratory equipment for each online student. Currently, only a

validation of structuring a course this way. 2 A good measure of validation came during the summer of 2010 when a discarded librarytextbook lumped in a pile of books to be thrown away caught my eye. The textbook is entitled“The Science of Engineering Design”, written by Percy Hill and published over 40 years ago in1970. Hill asserts in the Preface, page vii: … long experience with freshman students has convinced the author that material of the type presented in this book must be conveyed to the student as early as possible in the engineering curriculum …. This book … does not concern itself with the science of solid mechanics, fluid mechanics, integrated
