deepen and solidify understanding. The instructional tools can be used in a classroom settingwith the physical models, or in a virtual setting using a simulation-based version. Many of theALMs include both a video of the scenario outcome (e.g., which way a spool accelerates whenpulling on a string) and a simulation that provides insight into the various forces involved [5].Reflection and Formative ReportA series of reflection questions are asked after the Instructional Tool. These questions askstudents to consider what they have learned, summarize the main key concepts, connect thematerial to applications in their daily lives, and reflect on areas in which they still need morepractice and support. These questions are designed to allow students

mentor as an accessible expert in theprogram that could advise and assist in the learning experience, particularly in the final project atthe end of the course. Students perceived the peer mentor as a bridge between the students andclinical participants, making communication less intimidating and the process of clinical needsfinding more accessible. The peer mentor reflected the importance of accommodating the needsof each student to ensure a productive experience for all members of the cohort.Future directions for our investigation in the peer mentor program include refining thescheduling of the workshops for increased accessibility for students and better tailoring thecontent towards the design process for medical devices. , it serves as an example of using statistical tools to uncovermeaningful trends and guide decision-making.Key FindingsIncome Levels and AV Adoption Rates: A weak positive correlation (+0.02) suggests asmall relationship between income levels and AV adoption rates in the synthetic data. Whilethis does not align with prior literature’s strong correlations, it reflects the variabilityintroduced in conceptual modeling.Education Levels and AV Adoption Rates: A moderate positive correlation (+0.22)indicates that higher education levels are associated with greater public trust and acceptanceof AVs. This supports findings that education fosters awareness and confidence in emergingtechnologies.Road Quality and Accident Rates: A negligible negative

, theseBME students often have advisors with primary appointments in other programs. For moreinsights into the diversity of NeuralStorm participants, we asked about their parents’ educationlevels starting from Year 2: 24% of the participants in NeuralStorm are first-generation collegestudents and half of the participants did not have a parent that had a postgraduate degree.NeuralStorm Pre-/Post-survey: The pre/post-survey contained self-reported confidence levels onareas reflecting the learning outcomes of NeuralStorm. These confidence levels were designed asquantitative interpretations of the learning indicators derived from the learning outcomes andwere measured on a 5-point Likert scale. Here, we present the analysis from our Year 1 ofNeuralStorm

needs evaluation, and regulatory strategies (Table 1).Cataract procedures were recorded in each location, including standard and femtosecond laser-assisted surgeries at UCI Medical Center and standard procedures in Vietnam and Paraguay. U.S.procedures used dedicated operating rooms, while global procedures were performed in sharedspaces, reflecting economic and logistical differences. Cataract surgery, performed >20 milliontimes annually [19], was ideal for comparison. All locations followed the standardphacoemulsification technique with intraocular lens implantation [20]. In the U.S., femtosecondlaser-assisted procedures were an option for privately insured patients, costing $245–$22,000 perQuality Adjusted Life Year [21]. Due to high

considered, from both students’ and faculty members’ perspectives, todetermine the most effective strategies to foster student success. Each team member’s roles andresponsibilities were clearly defined, and a data collection plan was established to support thecollection of empirical evidence throughout the proposed project. Once the outline of the contentsof the proposal was established, the grant proposal was drafted over a two-month period. Thispaper outlines the detailed process of planning and developing the proposal, offering insights intothe methodologies used to identify challenges and propose interventions. The proposed interventions are particularly relevant in the context of Cal Poly Pomona, where thestudent population reflects a rich
